Grama Dhanasree Bharath is steadily moving forward by meeting the financial needs of everyday people — from small entrepreneurs and farmers to homemakers. Headquartered in Karimba in Palakkad district, the organisation is contributing to the country’s development by introducing a variety of small loan and investment schemes designed to support local communities.

Registered under the Companies Act with the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Grama Dhanasree Bharath currently operates across five panchayats in Palakkad. Founded in 2020, it has already built a client base of over 10,000 people, reflecting strong community trust and growth within a short period.

The institution is led by M. Pramod, a social activist with long-standing experience in the financial services sector. Under his guidance, Grama Dhanasree Bharath continues to focus on financial inclusion by providing accessible, transparent, and people-oriented financial solutions.

Empowering communities, one initiative at a time

Each of Grama Dhanasree Bharath’s products is carefully designed to support wider social goals — women’s empowerment, elderly care, education, and agricultural development. Reflecting its commitment to gender inclusion, around 90% of the organisation’s employees are women.

The institution offers small loans through simple procedures to help women start self-employment ventures. Support is extended to a variety of enterprises — from street shops and small retail stalls to lottery counters and other local businesses. To avail of a loan, applicants only need to provide an Aadhaar card, ration card, and a photograph. Loans ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹1 lakh are provided without any collateral, and group loans are available for women’s collectives as well.

These loans are often used to start sewing units, pickle or curry powder businesses, poultry farms, and similar small-scale ventures. Grama Dhanasree Bharath currently supports over fifty such enterprises, helping women gain financial independence within their communities.

Housewives who have taken group loans are also eligible for interest-free gold loans to meet agricultural needs, by paying only a processing fee. In addition, a special home appliance scheme has been introduced for homemakers. Participants contribute a fixed amount each month, and a lottery is conducted among them. Winners receive home appliances outright, with no further payment required, while others receive appliances equivalent to the amount they have contributed by the end of the scheme.

Through these community-driven programmes, Grama Dhanasree Bharath continues to combine social purpose with financial inclusion, creating meaningful change at the grassroots level.

Support for small traders and new entrepreneurs

During the Covid period, Grama Dhanasree Bharath played a key role in providing relief to small traders whose businesses were hit hard by the pandemic. The organisation introduced a short-term ‘Corona Loan’ scheme, offering quick financial assistance to help traders restart operations. Beneficiaries ranged from street vendors to small-scale entrepreneurs, many of whom were struggling to recover from prolonged shutdowns.

Beyond providing immediate relief, Grama Dhanasree Bharath is now focusing on creating new entrepreneurs. The organisation conducts entrepreneurship training programmes in collaboration with the Industries Department, equipping participants with the skills needed to start and manage small enterprises. It also offers guidance on accessing government subsidy schemes, helping aspiring entrepreneurs turn their ideas into sustainable ventures.

Making education affordable for all

In the education sector too, Grama Dhanasree Bharath has taken a meaningful step by opening a store in Karimba to provide students with study materials at wholesale prices. The initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on families while ensuring access to essential learning resources.

According to managing director M. Pramod, the profits from the store are used to supply free study materials to underprivileged students, reinforcing the organisation’s broader goal of promoting education and social welfare alongside financial inclusion.

Commitment to the community

Grama Dhanasree Bharath continues to extend its reach beyond financial services through a range of social welfare initiatives. The organisation provides pension support to destitute women above 60 years of age, offering them a measure of security and dignity in their later years.

With the aim of promoting a healthier learning environment, Grama Dhanasree Bharath has organised over 300 awareness classes in collaboration with the Excise Department to help make schools drug-free zones. Every year, it also provides study materials, including computers, to educational institutions.

The organisation encourages and recognises students who excel academically, in arts, and in sports, fostering a culture of all-round development. “Our goal is to extend a helping hand to those with very low incomes and support them in becoming part of the social and economic mainstream,” said managing director M. Pramod.

Good returns on investment

Grama Dhanasree Bharath Foundation offers attractive returns on fixed deposits, with profits channelled into RBI bonds and the earnings distributed among clients. According to managing director M. Pramod, investors currently receive up to 12.5% interest on deposits, making it a promising option for those seeking secure and rewarding investment avenues.

The foundation also issues debentures priced at ₹1,000 each, allowing investors to purchase as many units as they wish. In addition, individuals can invest directly in Grama Dhanasree Bharath shares, with opportunities available through its expanding branch network.

At present, the organisation operates branches in Karimba, Pulappetta, Thachampara, Kanjiram, and Kulappully, with new locations being planned as part of its growth strategy.

Real estate sector

Recognising that rising land prices and high construction costs have made home ownership difficult for many, Grama Dhanasree Bharath is stepping into the real estate sector with plans to develop a township featuring villa projects.

According to managing director M. Pramod, the initiative aims to make housing more accessible by allowing individuals to own a home through small, regular investments. In addition, a lottery-based scheme will offer selected participants the chance to own a house free of cost.

The upcoming township will include essential facilities and community infrastructure to ensure comfortable living, with villas offered at affordable prices to help more families realise their dream of owning a home.

Future plans

Currently based in Palakkad district, Grama Dhanasree Bharath is preparing to expand its operations to other parts of Kerala. New branches are set to open soon in Thrissur, Kannur, and Kasaragod, with further plans to establish a presence in Kozhikode and Malappuram in the next phase.

At present, the organisation has five active branches, and the goal is to increase this number to 20 within the next five years as part of its long-term growth strategy.
