Keralam is positioning itself as a destination for life sciences research, innovation and investment, with the state government promising streamlined approvals and support for investors.
Inaugurating the two-day International Life Sciences Industries Expo and Conclave, Bio Connect 4.0, in Thiruvananthapuram on October 8, Industries, IT and AI Minister PK Kunhalikutty said the state has the infrastructure, talent and ecosystem needed to emerge as a global life sciences hub.
Addressing the event online, Chief Minister VD Satheesan highlighted the government's Saral Kerala initiative (Simplified and Accelerated Regulatory Approvals and Licenses), designed to simplify investment procedures by providing clearances through a single mechanism.
The Chief Minister said the state was ready to collaborate with domestic and international investors bringing advanced technologies and innovative ideas, particularly in areas that could strengthen healthcare services.
Kunhalikutty said Keralam offered significant opportunities for life sciences companies to invest, expand operations and integrate emerging technologies. He added that recommendations from the conclave would be considered while framing government policies.
Additional Chief Secretary (Industries and Commerce) APM Mohammed Hanish presented Keralam's strategic advantages as an investment and innovation destination.
The two-day event aims to promote industrial partnerships, research collaboration and investment opportunities across the life sciences sector.
The conclave, held on October 8–9, is organised by Kerala Lifesciences Industries Parks under KSIDC. It brings together industry leaders, researchers, startups and policymakers, with a focus on biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and healthcare innovation.
