Moopen family buys ₹350 crore additional stake in Aster DM Quality Care

Promoter family raises holding to 24.58% as it strengthens its ownership in the integrated healthcare platform

The family of Dr Azad Moopen has increased its stake in Aster DM Quality Care by acquiring an additional 0.57% of the healthcare company for about ₹350 crore.

Union (Mauritius) Holdings, owned and promoted by Dr Moopen and his family, purchased 46.09 lakh equity shares of Aster DM Quality Care from TPG-backed Centella Mauritius Holdings.

The transaction was completed on September 2 at ₹760 a share, taking the total deal value to approximately ₹350.34 crore.

Moopen family holding rises

Following the acquisition, the promoter family’s stake in Aster DM Quality Care has risen to 24.58%. In a regulatory filing, the company said the acquisition strengthens the promoter family’s ownership and reflects its commitment to the company’s long-term growth.

The company also said the transaction demonstrates the family’s confidence in the potential of Aster DM Quality Care as a larger, integrated healthcare platform and its ability to create sustainable long-term value for shareholders.

Four healthcare brands

Aster DM Quality Care was created through the merger of Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India. The combined healthcare platform operates four major brands:

  • Aster DM

  • CARE Hospitals

  • Evercare

  • KIMSHEALTH

The company operates 39 hospitals across 28 cities, with more than 10,890 beds. Its network has a strong presence across South and Central India.

Its healthcare services span primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary care, with specialised centres covering oncology, cardiac sciences, neurosciences, gastro sciences, orthopaedics, nephrology, organ transplantation, mother and child care and critical care.

Stock performance

Aster DM Quality Care shares were trading at around ₹788.25 during intraday trading on September 4.

The stock has declined 5.59% over the past month but has gained 21.31% in the past six months. On a year-to-date basis, the shares are up 30.16%.

The promoter family’s latest purchase comes as Aster DM Quality Care continues to build its position as one of India’s larger integrated hospital platforms.
