The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has called for aviation security to be more dynamic, people-centric and technology-driven, as its South India Operational Conference began at Cochin International Airport on Thursday.
The two-day meet, themed “Aviation Security in a Changing Era”, will review preparedness and coordination across airports in the region.
The conference is focusing on contingency planning, balancing robust security with passenger convenience, and adopting new technologies. A presentation by the CIAL IT team showcased AI-enabled surveillance, full-body scanners, perimeter intrusion detection systems and enhanced cybersecurity tools.
The CISF also announced the inauguration of new infrastructure for its personnel at Cochin, highlighting welfare measures alongside professional readiness. Officials said the deliberations reaffirmed that aviation security cannot remain static in an interconnected world and must evolve continuously through innovation and capacity building.
The event was inaugurated by Praveer Ranjan, IPS, special director general (APS), in the presence of Jose Mohan, IPS, inspector general, CISF. Senior officers including CASOs and DIGs from major airports in South India are attending.
