Swiggy has introduced a new app called SNACC, which focuses on delivering quick bites, beverages, and meals within 15 minutes. The app became available on 7 January in selected areas of Bengaluru, with plans to expand to other regions in the future. This launch comes amidst growing competition in the quick delivery sector, with other players like Zomato and Zepto also offering similar services.
SNACC’s menu reportedly includes items across categories such as Indian breakfast, coffee, bakes, cold beverages, eggs, and protein. Some of these items are sourced from third-party providers, while others are tied to brands like Blue Tokai and The Whole Truth. Unlike Swiggy’s earlier 15-minute delivery service, Bolt, SNACC operates from a centralised location with pre-stocked products, at least for now. This operational model might evolve as the service expands.
Bolt, introduced in October 2024, operates as a feature within the main Swiggy app and delivers meals from partner restaurants within a two-kilometre radius. In contrast, SNACC functions as an independent app, reflecting a broader trend in the industry where platforms are launching standalone apps to address specific customer demands. Swiggy’s earlier approach of combining multiple services like food delivery, hyperlocal delivery, quick commerce, and dining out within a single app now seems to be diversifying.
The quick delivery segment is becoming increasingly crowded. Blinkit’s Bistro, Zepto’s Zepto Cafe, and Ola Dash are a few of the services competing for a share of the market. Smaller players like Swish, Magicpin, and Zing are also gaining traction. This heightened competition suggests that consumers are prioritising speed and convenience when it comes to food and grocery deliveries.
Swiggy’s decision to launch SNACC appears to align with the rising demand for fast food delivery. However, how SNACC will perform compared to other established and emerging players remains to be seen. For now, the company seems to be exploring ways to enhance its presence in the quick commerce space while experimenting with different models to meet consumer expectations.
