Ultraviolette to launch crossover electric bike, targets IPO within three years

Priced at around ₹2.49 lakh (ex-showroom), deliveries are set to begin in October

Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ultraviolette has announced plans to launch an initial public offering (IPO) by the financial year 2027–28, joining the growing list of EV makers looking to tap capital markets. The company is backed by investors including TVS Motor Company, Zoho Corporation, Lingotto, and Speciale Invest.

Launch of X-47 crossover

Alongside the IPO roadmap, Ultraviolette unveiled the X-47 Crossover, claims to be the world’s first commercially available motorcycle equipped with an integrated radar and camera safety system as standard. Priced at around ₹2.49 lakh (ex-showroom), deliveries are set to begin in October.

Chief executive officer and cofounder Narayan Subramaniam said the X-47 had been inspired by fighter jets and combined cutting-edge technology with advanced safety systems. “It redefines what riders can expect from electric mobility, offering versatility from urban commutes to long rides, while showcasing Indian innovation on the global stage,” he added.

The company is eyeing wider global expansion, having already entered the United Kingdom and established a presence in 10 countries, including France, Ireland, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, with its F77 MACH 2 and F77 SuperStreet models. Chief technology officer and cofounder Niraj Rajmohan said Ultraviolette was also exploring markets in Southeast Asia and Latin America.

Features and performance

The X-47 is powered by a 10.3 kWh battery pack delivering a peak output of 40.2 hp (30 kW) and 100 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0–60 km/h in 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 145 km/h.

It comes with a radar-powered rider assistance system, a dual-camera dashcam suite, and Ultraviolette’s in-house developed parallel boost charging system. The bike also incorporates Bosch’s 10th Gen dual-channel ABS with switchable modes, three levels of traction control, and Brembo braking components. Suspension is handled by 41 mm inverted front forks and a rear mono-shock, both preload-adjustable.

Rajmohan highlighted the company’s vertically integrated approach: “We engineer for real-world resilience, from thermal stability in extreme conditions to robust, future-ready safety systems.”
