RBI opens applications for Grade B officer posts

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced recruitment for 120 Grade B officer posts across three departments, with the application process now open online. The notification, released on September 10, details vacancies, eligibility conditions and examination schedule.

The General department has the largest share of openings with 83 posts. The Department of Statistics and Information Management (DSIM) has 20 vacancies, while the Department of Economic and Policy Research (DEPR) has 17.

Age and qualification criteria

Applicants must be between 21 and 30 years of age as of July 1, 2025. Those with MPhil or PhD degrees are eligible for an extended age limit of 32 and 34 years respectively.

For the General stream, candidates need a bachelor’s degree with at least 60% marks (50% for SC, ST and PwBD) or a postgraduate degree with at least 55% marks (pass class for SC, ST and PwBD). Chartered Accountancy and equivalent professional qualifications are also acceptable.

For DEPR, applicants must hold a master’s degree in economics, finance, econometrics or related subjects with at least 55% marks. Candidates with PGDM or MBA in finance, or with research or teaching experience, may qualify for age relaxation.

For DSIM, a master’s degree in statistics, mathematical statistics, mathematical economics or allied fields with at least 55% marks is required. Qualifications such as M.Stat. from the Indian Statistical Institute or PGDBA (jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta) are also recognised.

Application process

The application window is open from September 10 to 30, 2025, until 6:00 PM. Candidates must apply online via the Opportunities@RBI section on the central bank’s website. The process includes registration, completion of the form, uploading documents and payment of the fee.

The application fee has been set at ₹850 for General and OBC candidates and ₹100 for SC, ST and PwBD categories. Payment must be made online. After submission, candidates are advised to download and retain a copy of the confirmation page.

RBI has stated that applications will only be accepted through its website.
