Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) subscribers will be unable to access several online services until June 30 as the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) carries out a major system migration and software upgrade.
The EPFO has announced that its member portal and the Umang app will remain unavailable from June 26 to June 30 while it consolidates databases and upgrades its claims processing system. The move is aimed at improving service delivery, speeding up claim processing and strengthening system security.
During the five-day maintenance period, members will not be able to:
Submit new EPF claims
Track or process existing claims
Access e-passbook services
File Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR) for employer contributions
Claims submitted before the maintenance window will be processed once services resume.
The upgraded system is expected to become operational from midnight on July 1.
Although the online portal and Umang app will remain inaccessible, subscribers can still check their EPF balance and recent contributions through SMS, WhatsApp and the missed-call facility.
Missed call: Members can give a missed call from their registered mobile number to 9966044425. The call disconnects automatically after two rings, following which an SMS with the latest EPF balance and contribution details is sent.
SMS: Subscribers can send EPFOHO UAN from their registered mobile number to 7738299899 to receive account details. The service is available in English, Hindi and several regional languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi and Punjabi.
WhatsApp: EPFO's WhatsApp service remains available through verified regional office numbers. Members can send "Hello" to the WhatsApp number of their respective EPFO office to receive automated assistance in their preferred regional language.
Subscribers requiring assistance during the migration period can contact the EPFO's customer support helpline at 14470.
The retirement fund body has apologised for the temporary disruption and said the upgrade is intended to provide faster, more reliable and more secure digital services for EPF members.
