The Malabar region is one geography that has not found many marketing initiatives that would have raised its tourism scope. The Kerala Tourism Department seems to have
realised this and is now planning to put this vibrant region and its tourism potential on the marketplace.
Marketing Malabar’s heritage, destinations, cuisine, water sports, arts and crafts are
expected to add it to the must-visit tag. Kerala Tourism has lined up a B2B (business-to-business) meeting in Kozhikode on December 27. It is collaborating with Metro Expedition and the Beypore International Water Fest to showcase Malabar’s destinations, adventure sports, cuisine, arts, folklore, and heritage.
Speaking to DhanamOnline, Siji Nair, the convenor of the December 27 `Gateway to Malabar: A
Tourism B2B Meet' event, said: “Malabar is one region that has found minimum marketing efforts in terms of tourism potential. The B2B meeting will place the unique specialties of North Kerala before tour operators and travel agents, and through them attract travellers and other tourism stakeholders.” Around 500 participants were expected to attend the marketing event.
“The event on December 27 will try to establish links between local service providers, leading tour operators, and industry experts," Kerala Tourism Minister P A Mohammed Riyas said. "The B2B meet will aim at creating partnerships to boost Malabar's visibility in the national and international travel arena.”
He noted that Malabar has enormous tourism potential and it needs to be included among other well-known tourism destinations of Kerala. The event would mark the first significant outing for tour operators, travel agents, and other commercial businesses in the leisure travel sector in the Malabar region.
"We expect tour operators and travel agents from Gujarat, Mumbai, Pune, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh to be part of the B2B meet," Siji Nair added. An added attraction for them would be the e Beypore International Water Fest, one of India’s largest water festivals.
