Market indices rose at the one-hour special Muhurat trading session on Friday, with Sensex up 335.06 points and Nifty up 94.20 points; M&M led the gains with a 3% surge; broader markets outperformed benchmarks.
The Nifty ended Tuesday's session with a 0.52% jump at 24,466, while the Sensex ended trade with a gain of 0.45% at 80,368; both midcap and smallcap indices experienced a strong rebound.
The Sensex ended 663 points, or 0.83 percent lower, at 79,402, dropping below the 80,000 mark; the Nifty fell 218.60 points, or 0.9 percent, to settle at 24,180.80.
The Nifty ended today with a 0.15% drop at 24,399, while the Sensex dropped by 0.02% at 80,065; two dozen constituents of the Nifty 50 closed in the negative territory.
