South Indian Bank has appointed T. Anto George as its new chief operating officer (COO). The decision was approved at the bank’s board meeting held on December 22.

3 decades' experience

With over three decades of experience in the banking sector, Anto George, 56, has held various senior roles within the bank. Before this appointment, he served as the chief general manager, overseeing human resources and operations. His career spans multiple areas, including branch and regional management, internal audit, fraud management, and credit services.

George has held leadership positions as branch head at metro branches across India and as regional head for key regions such as Chennai, Hyderabad, and Delhi. His responsibilities in these roles included managing operations, developing business, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

In addition to operational roles, George has significant expertise in corporate, retail, and agricultural credit, government licensing, HR operations, and employee training and development. His contributions also extend to areas like setting up new branches, managing products, and overseeing people management functions.
