Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has secured a major international order worth over ₹2,000 crore from a leading European client for the design and construction of six feeder container vessels. Each of the vessels will have a capacity of approximately 1,700 TEUs and will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), marking another milestone in CSL’s growing expertise in sustainable shipbuilding.

Letter of Intent

In a regulatory filing on Tuesday, the company announced that it has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) for the project. A detailed shipbuilding contract specifying the techno-commercial terms will be executed in due course. CSL clarified that none of its promoters, promoter group, or group companies hold any interest in the client, confirming that the transaction does not fall under the category of related-party dealings.

The announcement buoyed investor sentiment, with Cochin Shipyard’s share price hitting an intraday high of ₹1,807.65 around 9:40 a.m. The stock has gained nearly 14.3 percent so far this year, reflecting steady investor confidence in the company’s order pipeline and performance.

At its recent Annual General Meeting, Cochin Shipyard revealed that it closed FY25 with a robust order book of around ₹21,000 crore, spanning defence, commercial, and export segments. The company currently has 74 vessels on order, of which 50 are under construction, underscoring its position as one of India’s most active and diversified shipyards.
