South India’s HiLITE Group has officially commenced work on the World Trade Center Kozhikode, a project that is being developed with an investment of $680 million.

Located at HiLITE City, the landmark development is set to cover 12.5 million sq ft and is planned to be among the largest of its kind in the world.

As a licensed member of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), the project is expected to enhance Kozhikode's standing as a hub for business, trade, and education. It is anticipated to attract multinational companies, promote global integration, and accelerate economic growth and infrastructure development in the region

First phase of a multi-tower complex

The WTC Kozhikode complex is designed to feature multiple towers. The first phase of the development to begin construction is the World Trade Center Learning Park, for which a foundation-laying ceremony was held recently.

According to HiLITE Group chairman P. Sulaiman, the Learning Park is intended to host "premier global universities and nationally renowned centres of learning." The project's location within the 100-acre integrated township of HiLITE City is expected to bolster demand for international business and high-profile investment.

Vision for Kerala

Speaking at the event, Ajil Muhammed, ceo of the HiLITE Group, highlighted the company's track record in Kerala, referencing their role in the state's "retail revolution" with ten planned malls, four of which are already operational. He stated that the group remains committed to "creating opportunities, building townships, and redefining possibilities" with projects like the WTC Kozhikode.

The commencement of this project marks Kozhikode's entry into the global World Trade Center network, which is viewed as a significant step in Kerala's urban development and a new chapter in its global connectivity.
