Kochi-based healthcare technology management company Cyrix Healthcare has acquired the MedTech Solutions business of Blue Star Engineering & Electronics Ltd (Blue Star E&E).
The acquisition brings Blue Star E&E’s MedTech Solutions team, customer relationships and expertise in CT and MRI systems under Cyrix Healthcare. Cyrix expects the acquisition to increase its business by 30-40%.
Blue Star E&E’s MedTech Solutions business has experience in the sales, installation, clinical applications, maintenance, repair and management of medical imaging equipment. The team has been involved in more than 250 CT and MRI installations across India.
The acquisition will also strengthen Cyrix’s AURUM business, which focuses on refurbished medical equipment. The company expects to expand its refurbished CT and MRI offerings, along with access to spare parts, accessories and related equipment.
Existing Blue Star E&E MedTech Solutions customers will continue to be served by the same teams following the transition to Cyrix.
Cyrix has built its business around a Total MedTech Management model, offering healthcare institutions a single partner for installation, maintenance, calibration, quality assurance, repairs, refurbishment and lifecycle planning.
The company says it currently manages more than 6,50,000 medical devices across over 25,000 healthcare facilities, supported by more than 1,200 biomedical engineers and technical professionals. Its expertise covers more than 6,000 medical technology models.
Cyrix has also undertaken large-scale healthcare technology management assignments for government institutions in Keralam, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan.
The company has performed more than 40 million calibrations and has been the exclusive biomedical maintenance partner for Keralam government healthcare institutions for nearly five years.
The acquisition comes as Cyrix seeks to build a larger healthcare technology platform across India, the Middle East and Africa.
“This acquisition significantly strengthens our imaging expertise, service capabilities and product portfolio while accelerating our vision of building a comprehensive Total MedTech Management ecosystem,” said Ajith Kumar S, co-founder and executive director, Cyrix Healthcare.
Co-founder and executive director Joy K John said the deal would give healthcare providers deeper CT and MRI expertise, broader imaging and refurbishment capabilities and stronger service resources through a single partner.
Cyrix also operates an academy that trains biomedical engineers and provides 100% placement, according to the company.
