Muthoot Fincorp Limited, the flagship company of the Muthoot Pappachan Group, has received The Economic Times’ Family Business of the Year – Large award.
According to the company, the award recognises family-owned enterprises that have successfully combined financial performance, strong corporate governance, professional management and continuity of leadership across generations.
Thomas John Muthoot, Chairman and Managing Director of Muthoot Fincorp; Thomas George Muthoot, Joint Managing Director; Thomas Muthoot John, Executive Director of Muthoot Microfin; and Susanna Muthoot, Executive Director of Muthoot Housing Finance, received the award.
The company said the recognition reflects its efforts to bring successive generations into business leadership while preserving its founding values and supporting long-term growth.
The younger generation continues to play an active role in the growth and performance of the group.
The company said its structured approach to leadership succession, supported by values passed down across generations, has helped strengthen the organisation’s growth.
Muthoot Fincorp also highlighted Blue Carnival, its employee rewards and recognition programme, as an example of its employee-focused work culture.
Under the programme, high-performing employees receive an opportunity to meet Shah Rukh Khan, the group’s brand ambassador.
“This recognition belongs to everyone who has shaped this institution across generations. From the values of trust and service passed on by my father to the thousands of employees who carry that mission forward in every customer interaction today, this achievement is shared by all of them.
“It reaffirms our commitment to remain rooted in Kerala while growing as an institution that serves ordinary people across the country,” said Thomas John Muthoot, Chairman and Managing Director of Muthoot Fincorp.
“Our journey from a gold loan-led institution to a comprehensive financial services platform has been powered by the discipline and diversification that define the organisation.
“This award is therefore a proud moment for the entire team. It also inspires us to continue serving customers and communities responsibly,” said Muthoot Fincorp Chief Executive Officer Shaji Varghese.
The Muthoot Pappachan Group traces its origins to a small grain trading venture started by Ninan Mathai in Kozhencherry, Kerala, in 1887.
The business subsequently expanded into financial services, addressing the financial requirements of ordinary customers.
The group said the values of humility, integrity, discipline and service shaped by Pappachan Muthoot continue to form the foundation of its operations.
