

Kerala-based SFO Technologies, a part of NeST Group, has developed and delivered a critical Primary Power Distribution System (PPDS) for SARAS MkII, India’s first indigenous passenger aircraft project.
N Jehangir, chairman and managing director of NeST Group, attended the event alongside Abhay Anant Pashilkar, director, CSIR-NAL, and senior CSIR NAL scientists.
The power distribution system is a key component that manages and distributes electrical power to various aircraft systems. The successful development of this mission-critical system marks a significant milestone in India’s efforts to strengthen indigenous aerospace manufacturing capabilities.
The SARAS MkII, being developed by CSIR–National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL), is a 19-seater light transport aircraft designed for regional connectivity and short-distance passenger operations. The project is aimed at enhancing India’s capabilities in designing and manufacturing civilian aircraft.
The development highlights the growing contribution of Indian technology companies in the aerospace ecosystem, particularly in areas involving advanced electronics and mission-critical systems.
Speaking at the function, Dr. N. Jehangir, Chairman and Managing Director of NeST Group, described the handover as a watershed moment for the state's technology footprint. Abhay Anant Pashilkar said that PPDS is the heart of SARAS MKII electrical system powering complete aircraft having multiple sources from Generators and Batteries.
