A crane manufacturer in China has stunned social media yet again after distributing nearly ₹238 crore in year-end bonuses to employees, marking one of the most generous profit-sharing exercises seen in recent times.

According to a report by the South China Morning Post, Henan Kuangshan Crane Co handed out 180 million yuan (about $26 million) from its 2025 net profit of 270 million yuan (1 yuan=13.28 rupees). The payouts were announced at the company’s annual gala held on February 13, attended by around 7,000 employees.

Cash showers at annual gala

More than 60 million yuan in cash was reportedly distributed on the spot during the event. Videos circulating on Chinese social media platforms showed employees counting stacks of banknotes laid out on long tables, while others walked off stage carrying bundles of cash.

In one interactive segment, employees were invited to count money themselves — and whatever amount they managed to count within the stipulated time was theirs to keep. The unusual format added to the spectacle, with many struggling to hold the cash they had collected.

From jewellery to cash

The company has built a reputation for extravagant rewards. In previous years, employees were gifted gold necklaces and rings. This time, however, founder and chairman Cui Peijun opted for straight cash.

During the gala, Cui reportedly quipped on stage: “Why are we giving out washing machines? Do you think gold prices have gone up? In previous years, we gave necklaces and rings; bring up the cash and give everyone another 20,000 yuan.” The spontaneous announcement drew loud cheers from the audience.

Including online transfers made to employees who could not attend in person, total year-end payouts crossed 180 million yuan — nearly 70 percent of the company’s annual profit.

A consistent profit-sharing model

This is not a one-off gesture. In 2024, after posting a net profit of 260 million yuan, the company distributed 170 million yuan among employees. In March last year, to mark International Women’s Day, it also awarded nearly 1.6 million yuan in bonuses to around 2,000 women employees.

Founded in September 2002, Henan Kuangshan Crane specialises in cranes and material-handling equipment, with operations spanning more than 130 countries. Cui holds approximately 98.88 percent of the company’s shares.

The firm’s repeated large-scale cash distributions have earned Cui a popular nickname online — “the boss who loves giving out money the most” — reinforcing the company’s image as one of China’s most employee-friendly manufacturers.
