NOV, a US-based multinational corporation with over 150 years of experience in the global energy sector and with a workforce of 34,000 worldwide, has opened a new Digital Technology Center (DTC) in Kochi. The 17,000-square-foot facility, located at Lulu Cyber Tower 2 in Infopark, was inaugurated by P. Rajeev, Kerala's Minister for Industries, Law, and Coir.

The new centre is expected to house several key functions, including a software engineering centre, corporate digital services, and a customer support centre. This marks NOV’s first Digital Technology Development Centre in India, where the company already operates manufacturing facilities in Pune and Chennai.

The centre currently employs around 70 professionals, but it is reported that NOV plans to increase this number, potentially doubling the workforce by the first quarter of next year.

Kerala is a leading industrial hub

During the inauguration, Minister for industries, law & coir, P Rajeev highlighted Kerala's position as a leading industrial hub, noting that the state's business-friendly policies, combined with its world-class infrastructure and skilled workforce, have made Kochi a preferred destination for IT and tech companies.

NOV officials, including Staale Jordan, VP of Product IT, indicated that the Kochi centre would play a key role in supporting the company’s global growth strategy. Jordan noted that the centre would focus on strengthening NOV's operations through service excellence and innovation. He also mentioned that the company had been encouraged by the investment climate in Infopark and the support provided by the state government.

The opening of the Digital Technology Centre also marks another step in Kochi’s growing reputation as a technology and innovation hub, attracting international firms seeking to tap into India’s talent pool.
