Cochin Shipyard makes Rs 188 cr profit in first quarter

The numbers were softer than the March quarter, when the company posted ₹1,651 crore in revenue and ₹285 crore in profit.

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), the central public sector shipbuilder based in Kerala, reported higher revenue and profit for the June quarter compared with the same period last year.

Profit rose 7.9% to ₹187.8 crore, while revenue jumped 38.5% from ₹771.5 crore to ₹1,068 crore.

That said, the numbers were softer than the March quarter, when the company posted ₹1,651 crore in revenue and ₹285 crore in profit.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) touched ₹241.3 crore in the June quarter, up 35.4% from ₹177.8 crore a year earlier.

Securing fresh orders

In July, CSL signed a long-term memorandum of understanding with South Korea’s HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Co. Ltd., adding to a list of new contracts in recent months.

The company holds a firm position in India’s maritime security sector.

Aircraft carriers to global deliveries

CSL built India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier and continues to serve the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and Shipping Corporation of India.

It has also delivered vessels to countries including the US, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the UAE.
