The Hyundai Creta has taken the top spot once again, emerging as the highest-selling passenger vehicle in India for June 2025. Hyundai sold 15,786 units of the mid-size SUV last month, reinforcing Creta’s stronghold in the Indian market.
This performance wraps up a solid first half for Hyundai, with the Creta being the best-selling SUV between January and June. It also bagged the top spot overall in March, April, and June.
June’s numbers came with a bit of sentiment too — Creta completed 10 years in India this month. Since its debut in 2015, the model has consistently led the mid-size SUV charts every year. Its popularity has been so consistent that the segment itself is often referred to as the “Creta segment”.
Hyundai says over 1.2 million Indian families now own a Creta.
The Creta lineup has evolved over time, adding tech features, safety upgrades, and a range of powertrains to suit different buyers. Hyundai also recently stepped into the electric space with the Creta EV, adding to its portfolio at a time when cleaner mobility is getting more attention.
For those sticking to internal combustion engines, there are three main options:
A 1.5-litre MPi petrol (115 bhp, 144 Nm) with 6-speed manual or IVT
A 1.5-litre turbo petrol (160 bhp, 253 Nm) with 7-speed DCT
A 1.5-litre diesel (116 bhp, 250 Nm) with 6-speed manual or auto
If you're into a sportier ride, the Creta N Line shares the turbo engine and offers a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT as well.
In its electric variant, the Creta is available with two battery packs — 42kWh and 51.4kWh — offering estimated ranges of up to 390 km and 473 km respectively on a full charge. While it's still early days for the EV model, Hyundai seems to be gradually paving the way towards broader adoption.
