Aster DM Healthcare’s founder and chairman Azad Moopen has announced a scholarship for students who have shown academic excellence but face financial hardship. The scholarship, named Dr Moopen’s Legacy, was announced on his birthday, July 28.

Applications are now open for the scheme, which will benefit 125 students over the next five years. Each year, 25 students will be admitted with full scholarships, five for MBBS, ten for BSc Nursing, and ten for BPharm. Selection will take into account academic merit as well as the applicant’s financial background.

Opportunity in Wayanad

Students admitted to Dr Moopen’s Medical College, Dr Moopen’s College of Nursing, and Dr Moopen’s College of Pharmacy in Wayanad will be eligible for the annual scholarship. Speaking at a press conference, Azad Moopen said that ₹3 crore will be allocated each year to fund the scholarship programme.

For MBBS scholarships, selection will be based on high NEET rankings and strong academic records. In the case of nursing and B-Pharm courses, the focus will be on students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. A dedicated expert committee will oversee the selection of eligible candidates.

Application process underway

Applications for the scholarship opened on July 28. Students can apply and check eligibility details at www.dmscholarship.in.
