Mithun K. Chittilappilly has been appointed chairman and managing director of leading consumer durables company V-Guard Industries Limited. The appointment took effect on September 27. Mithun has been serving as managing director of the company since 2012.
The board of directors appointed Mithun to the new role following the completion of the tenure of Radha Unni, who was serving as chairperson and independent director.
Mithun joined V-Guard as executive director in 2006. When he took charge, the company’s turnover was around ₹229 crore. By FY2026, revenue had increased nearly 24-fold to ₹5,966 crore.
Over the past two decades, Mithun has played a key role in transforming V-Guard from a South India-focused electrical brand into a leading consumer durables company with a nationwide presence.
Mithun said he had been privileged to be part of the company’s transformation from a regional brand into a national player alongside the V-Guard team. As the company approaches its 50th anniversary, the priority will be to build on its strong foundation and prepare the organisation for its next phase of growth.
