Billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani, India’s second richest person, received a total remuneration of ₹10.41 crore in the financial year 2024-25—lower than several of his group’s top executives and many industry peers.

Adani, 62, who is worth $82.5 billion (approximately Rs 8 lakh-crore) as per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and ranks 20th on its 2025 World’s Richest List, drew his salary from two of the nine listed Adani Group firms.

Adani's pay

In FY25 (the year ended March 31, 2025), Adani received:

₹2.54 crore (₹2.26 crore salary and ₹28 lakh in perquisites) from Adani Enterprises (AEL)

₹7.87 crore (₹1.8 crore salary and ₹6.07 crore commission) from Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ)

This marked a 12 percent increase from the ₹9.26 crore he drew in FY24 (₹2.46 crore from AEL and ₹6.8 crore from APSEZ).

Like other promoters, Adani also benefits from dividends declared by group companies.

How does Adani’s pay compare?

Despite his vast personal wealth, Adani’s remuneration remains modest when compared with several Indian business leaders. Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, has not taken a salary since the Covid outbreak in 2019; earlier, he had capped his pay at ₹15 crore.

Here’s how others in the industry were compensated:

Sunil Bharti Mittal (Bharti Airtel): ₹32.27 crore in FY24

Rajiv Bajaj (Bajaj Auto): ₹53.75 crore in FY24

Pawan Munjal (Hero MotoCorp): ₹109 crore in FY24

SN Subrahmanyan (Larsen & Toubro): ₹76.25 crore in FY25

Salil S Parekh (Infosys): ₹80.62 crore in FY25

(Note: Figures do not include dividend income.)

Adani Group executives earn more

The report also highlighted that several top executives within the Adani Group earned more than Gautam Adani himself in FY25:
