The Tata Group is set to enter the quick commerce market with Neu Flash, a new service that extends its existing e-commerce platform, Tata Neu. This launch aims to position Tata alongside Zomato’s Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto, which currently dominate the sector.

Diverse collaborations

The Economic Times reported that Neu Flash will initially be rolled out to select users in the coming weeks, offering a variety of products including groceries, electronics, and fashion items. The grocery segment will be powered by BigBasket, while electronics and mobile phones will be provided through Croma. Fashion and lifestyle products will be managed by Tata Cliq, creating a comprehensive shopping experience.

Recent trend-setters in quick commerce

Tata’s entry follows recent initiatives by other companies. For example, Flipkart has introduced its quick delivery service called ‘Minutes,’ and Reliance JioMart is revisiting its own options after previously suspending its 90-minute delivery service. At present, Blinkit, Instamart, and Zepto hold approximately 85 percent of the quick commerce market, indicating the fierce competition in this rapidly growing sector.

Moreover, Tata’s existing e-pharmacy service, 1mg, which delivers medicines within hours in specific areas of Delhi-NCR, is expected to be integrated with Neu Flash, further enhancing its offerings.

As the quick commerce landscape expands—evidenced by Zepto's recent $150 million funding from local investors—Tata's entry could shift the dynamics of the market. With numerous players competing for market share, customers can anticipate an increasingly competitive environment that promises faster and more efficient delivery services shortly.
