Reliance and Meta on Friday announced a new joint venture with an initial investment of about $100 million, aimed at delivering Meta’s open-source AI models to Indian businesses.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the unit would help bring advanced AI tools to companies across India.

Google-Reliance tie-up

Google, meanwhile, will partner with Reliance to deploy AI across its energy, retail, telecom and financial services businesses. It will also set up a Jamnagar Cloud region dedicated to Reliance, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said.

The announcements come against the backdrop of strained India–US ties, with Washington imposing 50 percent tariffs on Indian exports in response to New Delhi’s continued purchases of Russian oil. Reliance, which runs the world’s largest refining complex in Gujarat, remains India’s biggest buyer of Russian crude.
