Google's Flow will make video-makers' life easy
Tech behemoth Google has rolled out a fresh AI-powered video tool named Flow, debuting it at the I/O 2025 event. Designed for creators who want to craft short video clips using just words, Flow blends Google’s flagship AI models—Veo, Imagen and Gemini—into a single platform.
For now, access is limited to users in the United States who are subscribed to select plans, but the tool’s potential already has people talking.
What is Flow?
Google Flow is an AI-powered video creation tool introduced at Google I/O 2025. It's designed for filmmakers and creative professionals, allowing them to generate cinematic clips and scenes using Google's advanced AI models—Veo for video generation, Imagen for visuals, and Gemini for text input and prompt handling2.
Flow offers features like camera controls, scene building, and asset management, making it easier to craft high-quality video content. It also includes Flow TV, a curated hub showcasing AI-generated clips and storytelling techniques
Lights, camera, AI
At its core, Flow is more than just a video generator. It’s being described as a mini film studio where you can create, edit and organise cinematic sequences—all powered by AI.
The platform builds on VideoFX, an earlier Google experiment, but with upgrades aimed at giving users more control and creative consistency between scenes. Think of it as directing a film using prompts rather than cameras.
Built to do more than just guess
Flow runs on the shoulders of three big AI engines. Veo generates video, Imagen turns words into still images, and Gemini interprets your typed instructions so the other two know what to do. What makes this setup interesting is the degree of control—users can manually adjust camera angles and perspectives, extend scenes while maintaining visual flow, and even manage a library of digital assets like characters, images and prompts.
Possibility kicks in
For those curious about what’s possible, Flow includes a section called Flow TV, where users can browse through AI-generated video samples along with the exact text prompts that brought them to life. It’s part demo reel, part user manual—and a potential goldmine for creators looking for a head start.
Tool with terms
Access to Flow comes in two flavours: Google AI Pro and AI Ultra. The Pro plan allows up to 100 generations per month, while Ultra unlocks higher usage and early access to Veo 3, a newer version that doesn’t just generate visuals but also ambient sounds and character voices. It’s still behind a paywall and limited to US users, but speculation about a global rollout is already in the air.
Early experiments are wild
Online, Flow has triggered a wave of excitement—especially around Veo 3. Social media is already filling up with quirky, surreal examples. One post showcased a giraffe riding a bicycle through New York, while others have used the tool for more cinematic, moody clips.
Dave Clark, co-founder of the creative studio Promise, posted that visuals, sound design and voice for one of his projects were all created using Flow and Veo 3. While it’s too early to say how mainstream the tool will become, it’s clearly capturing attention among early adopters.
