Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have announced a new price hike for commercial LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) gas cylinders.
On September 1, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG gas cylinder in Kerala and Delhi rose by Rs 39, setting the new rate at Rs 1,691.50.
This increase follows a previous adjustment in August, where the price rose by Rs 6.5.
In July, the price had been reduced by Rs 30 per cylinder, after earlier decreases of Rs 69.50 in June and Rs 19 in May, which had lowered the price to Rs 1,676.
Impact
The recent changes in commercial LPG gas cylinders price reflect various economic factors, including global oil market trends and domestic tax policies.
While the price for domestic LPG gas cylinders remains unchanged, the rise in commercial cylinder prices impacts industries such as hotels and catering, potentially leading to higher food prices.
Additionally, aviation turbine fuel (ATF prices have decreased by Rs 4,495 per kilolitre, which could benefit airlines.
These adjustments in commercial LPG gas cylinders price highlight the volatile nature of fuel pricing. Businesses dependent on LPG will need to review their cost strategies, and consumers might see indirect effects in the form of increased service or product prices.
For households, the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana continues to support the use of LPG cylinders for home cooking through subsidies, promoting cleaner fuels and improving living standards.
