IndiGo has cancelled around 52 flights on Wednesday across major airports, including Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Hyderabad, as dense fog continues to disrupt flight operations during early morning hours.
The fresh round of cancellations follows a similar number of flights being scrapped on Tuesday, after the airline had cancelled as many as 172 services on Monday amid worsening visibility conditions.
In a late-night travel advisory, IndiGo warned passengers to brace for delays and schedule changes, especially on flights operating in North and East India. Foggy winter mornings, the airline said, are reducing visibility and slowing aircraft movements, forcing operational adjustments in the interest of safety.
The airline also cautioned travellers about possible delays in reaching airports, noting that fog could affect road traffic as well. Passengers travelling early in the day have been advised to plan with additional buffer time and to check flight status before leaving for the airport.
Several routes connecting Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Patna, Guwahati and other cities have been impacted by cancellations today. IndiGo has urged customers to stay updated through its official channels for the latest information on flight schedules.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has reviewed preparedness for fog-related disruptions. Regional and sub-regional offices have been instructed to remain on high alert, closely monitor airline operations, and ensure that passenger inconvenience is minimised.
