IndiGo has moved to quell passenger anger after its ongoing operational collapse by offering one-time travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 to customers who were “severely impacted” on December 3, 4 and 5. The airline, battling continued cancellations and scrutiny from regulators, said the gesture was aimed at restoring confidence and acknowledging the heavy inconvenience faced by thousands of travellers.
In a statement on X, IndiGo said the vouchers—valid for 12 months from the date of issue—will be offered to passengers stranded for long hours at congested airports during the three-day disruption triggered by widespread crew shortages and operational failures.
The carrier said refund processing for all cancelled flights has already been initiated, with “most” amounts credited and the remainder expected shortly. For bookings made through travel partners, IndiGo said it has taken the “necessary actions” to ensure refunds are routed accordingly.
IndiGo has asked affected passengers to write to customer.experience@goindigo.in if their contact details are incomplete in the airline’s system, so their claims can be processed promptly.
The Rs 10,000 vouchers will come on top of mandatory compensation under government norms for cancellations within 24 hours of departure. Under these rules, IndiGo must pay between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 depending on the flight’s block time.
While acknowledging that many passengers endured long waits and severe congestion during the December 3–5 crisis, IndiGo said it remained committed to “restoring the experience you expect from us — safe, smooth and reliable” and thanked customers for their patience as the airline works to stabilise its schedule.
