The Kerala government has launched Career Prayanam, a comprehensive digital platform designed to guide students through the maze of career options available after school and college. Inaugurated by minister for general education V. Sivankutty, the initiative aims to make career planning more structured and accessible for students across the state.
The portal — available at www.careerprayanam.education.kerala.gov.in — offers detailed information on over 400 career paths, 900 educational institutions, and 1,000 employers, categorised into 24 distinct career areas. It is tailored for students currently pursuing SSLC, Plus Two, and degree courses, helping them explore opportunities aligned with their interests and strengths.
Built with a fully responsive design, Career Prayanam works seamlessly across smartphones and computers. Users can browse different professions or search specific ones, each accompanied by essential details such as eligibility criteria, required skills, academic routes, job roles, industry scope, growth potential, and related certifications. The platform also provides insights into the challenges of each career, offering a realistic view rather than a one-sided ideal.
Beyond basic career listings, Career Prayanam delivers regular updates on admissions, scholarships, competitive exams, and notifications from national and state-level institutions. It connects users to entrance exam portals and verified job search websites, making it a one-stop resource for students at various stages of their education.
The platform also integrates expert guidance on career planning and includes information on the Kerala Differential Aptitude Test (KDAT), which evaluates a student’s natural aptitudes and helps them understand which fields they are best suited for.
Officials said the initiative represents a major step forward in blending technology with education. Developed by the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) agency, Career Prayanam reflects the state’s commitment to modernising learning tools and ensuring equitable access to educational resources.
The government hopes Career Prayanam will bridge the persistent gap between student aspirations and real-world opportunities. By combining digital tools, expert insights, and real-time updates, the platform aims to help Kerala’s youth make informed and confident career choices.
As education systems evolve to meet modern needs, this initiative underscores Kerala’s push towards a more connected and informed generation of learners — one that can plan careers with clarity and purpose.
