
Roshni Nadar, chairperson of HCL Technologies, has become the fifth richest woman in the world, according to the Hurun Global Rich List 2025. Rashi, aged 43, is also the first Indian woman to feature in the global top 10 wealthiest women. Her net worth: Rs 3.5 lakh crore.
“She is the only woman from India in the top ten richest globally,” said the Hurun Research Institute. She is also the youngest among India’s top 10 wealthiest individuals overall. Her father, Shiv Nadar, recently transferred a 47% stake in HCL Technologies in a succession plan, paving her way to the global list of wealthiest women. HCL Technologies, a multinational IT services and consulting firm, is the third largest Indian IT company.

In 2022, the Hurun India and Kotak Private Banking report on India's wealthiest women reaffirmed Roshni Nadar’s position at the top. With staggering net worth, she surpassed several business stalwarts, including Nykaa’s Falguni Nayar.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra is the only child of Shiv Nadar, the visionary founder of HCL Technologies, and Kiran Nadar. Often referred to as a 'wizard' in India's IT industry, Shiv Nadar played a crucial role in shaping the country's technology sector. He later established Shiv Nadar Foundation which is dedicated to education and social development.
Roshni displayed academic brilliance from an early age. She attended Delhi’s Vasant Valley School before pursuing her undergraduate degree in Communications at Northwestern University in Illinois, USA. She later earned a master’s degree from the prestigious Kellogg School of Management.
Before joining HCL Technologies, she worked as a news producer for international media houses, including Sky News UK, CNBC, and CNN America. However, in 2009, she transitioned into the family business, marking the beginning of her corporate leadership journey. Within a year, she was appointed executive director and later took over as chairperson of HCL Technologies.
Roshni married Shikhar Malhotra after a seven-year-long in 2019; the couple has two sons. Before their marriage, Shikhar worked in the automobile industry, particularly with Honda. Shikhar later joined HCL Technologies and currently serves as its vice-chairman.
Beyond the corporate sector, Roshni Nadar is deeply invested in philanthropy. She founded The Habitats Trust, an organisation dedicated to wildlife conservation. Se leads VidyaGyan, an initiative under the Shiv Nadar Foundation that provides quality education to underprivileged students, empowering them to achieve their dreams.
