India’s stock markets are closed today, April 3, on account of Good Friday, as per the official holiday calendar of the BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE).

This marks the second trading holiday this week and the first for April. Earlier, markets were shut on March 31 for Mahavir Jayanti.

Trading to resume on Monday

Normal trading across all segments will resume on Monday, April 6.

Trading remains suspended today across:

  • Equity and equity derivatives

  • Currency derivatives

  • NDS-RST and tri-party repo

  • Commodity derivatives

  • Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR)

Commodity markets also closed

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) is also closed for the full day, including both morning and evening sessions. This means no trading in commodities such as gold, silver, crude oil, copper and other base metals.

Global markets shut

Major global markets, including those in the US, Europe and parts of Asia, are also closed today for Good Friday.

April has one more trading holiday:

  • April 14 — Ambedkar Jayanti

Apart from weekends, this will be the only other market holiday in the month.
