In a striking prediction that is sure to spark conversation in the tech world, ten-year-old Dr. Swayam Sodha has claimed that smartphones will become obsolete within the next five years. Speaking at the Dhanam BFSI Summit at the Le Meridien Convention Center in Kochi, Dr. Sodha outlined his vision for the future of technology and how advancements like smart glasses will soon replace smartphones.

Coder and founder

Dr. Sodha, who has already earned an honorary doctorate in information technology, is a remarkable young innovator. He made headlines at the age of four as the youngest-ever coder in Python. At just ten years old, he has founded Swayamezon, a company focused on developing smart glasses, a revolutionary piece of technology that could change the way we interact with the world. Through Swayamezon, Dr. Sodha aims to create a new generation of wearables that will eventually replace smartphones and other traditional gadgets.

Glasses instead of smartphones

During his speech at the summit, Dr. Sodha explained how technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and the Internet of Things (IoT) will play a crucial role in the development of smart glasses. He believes these glasses, which could offer real-time information, immersive experiences, and hands-free interaction, will become the primary interface for communication, media consumption, and productivity, leaving smartphones behind.

In addition to discussing smart glasses, Dr. Sodha shared his thoughts on other emerging technologies, such as Blockchain, the Metaverse, and NFTs. He highlighted how these innovations are already making waves in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector, transforming how businesses operate and engage with customers.

Dr. Sodha wrapped up his speech with a piece of advice from the Bhagavad Gita, encouraging the audience to focus on their actions (karma) and not to be attached to the results.
