Thrissur is gearing up for a lively mix of business and entertainment as the WEN Thrissur Carnival takes place on August 8 at the Lulu Hyatt Convention Centre. Organised by the Women Entrepreneurs Network (VEN), the all-day event will bring together creative women-led businesses, cultural performances, and family-friendly experiences under one roof.

The carnival will run from 10 AM to 10 PM, and is expected to draw more than 10,000 visitors, according to organisers. VEN chapters from Kochi, Kozhikode, Kottayam, Thiruvananthapuram, and Coimbatore are collaborating to host the event.

Opening act with local business leaders

The inaugural session will feature T S Pattabhiraman, chairman and founder of Kalyan Silks, Anil Jose, managing director of T T Devassy Jewellery and Seema Anil.

While the event is designed as a networking and sales platform for women entrepreneurs, the format leans heavily on experience — with stalls, games, food, and creative corners meant to engage families and young audiences.

Carnival to turn creative with unique additions

One of the biggest attractions is a silent DJ party, said to be a first-of-its-kind in Thrissur. The party will run in three time slots, with tickets priced at ₹300. There’s also an Onam-themed Mummy & Kid and Grandma & Kid fashion show, where children between 3 and 12 years will walk the ramp with their mothers or grandmothers.

Over 100 stalls will showcase a wide range of products, services, and food, while children can explore art corners, face painting, mehndi, and games.

Workshops lined up include a blackout poetry session by Anupama Ramachandran, a self-love and Ho’oponopono healing session by Bhama M K, and a Nettipattam craft workshop by Shani Reji.

Beyond shopping and selfies

WEN says its broader goal is to give young attendees a chance to learn directly from small business owners and independent creators.

The Women Entrepreneurs Network currently has over 1,000 members across six chapters and aims to build spaces where women-led businesses can thrive through visibility and collaboration.

The press briefing for the event was attended by Harjinder Kaur, Sultana Fathima, Manju Thomas Poonolil, Sajna Firosh, and Kitty Sanil.
