The United Arab ab Emirates has dismissed reports circulating in sections of the local and international media suggesting the introduction of a lifetime golden visa for certain nationalities.
In an official statement on July 8, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) said the rumours were unfounded and clarified that all golden visa applications must be processed solely through official government platforms within the UAE.
“No internal or external advisory body is authorised to handle golden visa applications,” the Khaleej Times newspaper reported quoting the ICP statement.
The authority reiterated that the categories of Golden Residence, along with the applicable conditions and regulations, are determined strictly in accordance with UAE laws, legislative frameworks, and ministerial resolutions.
Those seeking information about the golden visa criteria are advised to consult the ICP website or smart application for accurate and up-to-date details.
The ICP noted that it had recently monitored a press release from an overseas consultancy claiming that applications could be made for a “lifetime UAE golden visa.” This misinformation was subsequently published by several Indian media outlets and a few UAE-based organisations on July 7 — without legal backing or verification from the UAE’s competent authorities.
While the ICP did not name the consultancy responsible, it warned that legal proceedings would be initiated against the entities spreading the false information. The authority accused them of attempting to exploit people’s aspirations for a secure and prosperous life in the UAE by spreading misleading claims in return for money.
The ICP called on all prospective residents, visitors, and investors to disregard such rumours and to rely exclusively on official channels for visa-related information.
“Individuals should not fall prey to inaccurate claims made in pursuit of quick financial gain,” the authority said, urging the public to visit the official ICP website or contact the call centre at 600522222 for guidance.
