Joy Alukkas, the prominent businessman and founder-chairman of the Joy Alukkas Group, has emerged as the richest Malayali in the latest Forbes list. He achieved this milestone by surpassing leading expatriate businessman and LuLu Group chairman M. A. Yusuff Ali.
According to Forbes’ real-time report, Joy Alukkas’ wealth stands at 6.4 billion dollars (around ₹56,500 crore). M. A. Yusuff Ali’s wealth is estimated at 5.4 billion dollars (around ₹47,700 crore).
Interestingly, in the report published by Forbes in April 2025, Joy Alukkas’ wealth was pegged at just 3.3 billion dollars, while Yusuff Ali’s stood at 5.4 billion dollars. In the latest Forbes Global Billionaires List, Joy Alukkas is ranked 563rd, while Yusuff Ali is placed at 742nd.
Prominent expatriate businessman and Gems Group chairman Sunny Varkey secured a place in the Forbes rich list’s top thousand with a wealth of 4 billion dollars (around ₹35,310 crore).
Ravi Pillai is ranked 1,014th with a wealth of 3.9 billion dollars (around ₹34,430 crore). T. S. Kalyanaraman, with a wealth of 3.6 billion dollars (₹31,800 crore), is ranked 1,103rd.
In addition, Sara George Muthoot (2.5 billion dollars), George Jacob Muthoot (2.5 billion dollars), George Thomas Muthoot (2.5 billion dollars), and George Alexander Muthoot (2.5 billion dollars) have also found places in Forbes’ 2025 rich list.
Among Indian billionaires, Mukesh Ambani continues to lead with a fortune of 103.5 billion dollars. He is followed by Gautam Adani, whose wealth is estimated at 64.1 billion dollars.
Globally, Tesla founder Elon Musk remains the world’s richest with a massive fortune of 342 billion dollars (₹30.19 lakh crore). Oracle’s Larry Ellison is in second place with 387.6 billion dollars, while Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg holds the third position with 257.5 billion dollars.
