
Tata Group Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran has been honoured with the ‘Most Excellent Order of the British Empire’ (CBE) by the United Kingdom. The recognition, awarded for his services to UK-India business relations, places him among a select group of global business leaders acknowledged for their contributions.
Following the honour, Chandrasekaran expressed gratitude and highlighted Tata Group’s longstanding engagement with the UK. The conglomerate operates across various sectors in the country, including technology, consumer goods, hospitality, steel, chemicals, and automotive industries.
“We are proud of our strong strategic relationship with the UK,” he said, pointing to the group’s major investments and business presence in the region.
Chandrasekaran also emphasised Tata’s ownership of well-known British brands like Jaguar Land Rover and Tetley. The group reportedly employs over 70,000 people in the UK.
Beyond business, Tata Group has maintained research and academic collaborations with leading British institutions, including the University of Oxford, the London School of Economics, the University of Warwick, and the University of Swansea.
The UK’s 2024 list of foreign nationals receiving honours includes other prominent figures such as Bharti Enterprises Founder Sunil Mittal, Ray and Dagmar Dolby Family Fund Co-founder Dagmar Dolby, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, Harvard University professor Jason Furman, and Rajinder Dhatt, a founding member of the Undivided Indian Ex-Servicemen’s Association.
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) is awarded to individuals outside the UK’s civil service for their contributions in fields such as arts, sciences, charitable work, and public service.
