Infopark

Infopark, Kerala’s premier IT hub, has announced a record-breaking 24.28% increase in IT exports, reaching an unprecedented Rs 11,417 crore for the fiscal year 2023-24. This remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone in the park’s 20-year history and highlights its substantial growth over the past eight years.

Substantial Growth Over Eight Years

In 2016-17, Infopark reported IT exports valued at Rs 3,000 crore. At that time, the complex accommodated 328 companies and 32,800 employees within a built-up area of 70 lakh square feet. By April 2024, Infopark's built-up area had expanded to 92.62 lakh square feet, supporting 582 companies and employing over 70,000 people.

Susanth Kurunthil, CEO of Infopark, attributed this impressive growth to the global digitisation efforts spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic. “The number of employees has doubled during this period,” Kurunthil noted, highlighting the surge in demand for IT services and innovations driven by the pandemic.

Campus Overview and Employment Figures

Infopark Kochi, established in 2004, plays a central role in this success. The Kochi campus alone houses 503 IT and ITeS companies within an 87.46 lakh square feet built-up area and employs more than 67,000 individuals. The Koratty campus in Thrissur accommodates 58 companies with over 2,000 employees, while the Cherthala campus in Alappuzha hosts 21 firms with more than 300 employees.

The demand for IT products has been on the rise since early 2020 as companies sought technological solutions to adapt to new business realities. This heightened demand required IT firms to invest in training and development, fueling a sector boom.

Strategic Expansion

Infopark’s strategic expansion across its multiple campuses—located in Kakkanad (Phase-1 and Phase-2), Koratty, and Cherthala—has significantly contributed to its growth and increased employment numbers. The successful capitalisation on global digitisation trends during the pandemic underscores Infopark’s position as a leading IT hub, reinforcing its pivotal role in Kerala’s IT sector and beyond.
