In a huge setback for Indian hopefuls, Canada is "granting 35% fewer international student permits this year."

Foreign applicants must prove they have a bank balance of at least 20,000 Canadian dollars, more than twice the earlier required amount, to qualify for Canadian study permits.

The number of students entering Canada has hit so high in the recent past that the Canadian government has cut down on the number of study permits issued this year.

In the US, tuition fee for a year is around $82,455 at Stanford Graduate School of Business, while the total cost touches $1,30,746. The total cost for an Indian student, therefore, totals up to Rs 1.09 crore. For a two-year MBA, this cost doubles.
