Elderly taxpayers must select the appropriate ITR forms to be eligible for tax deductions and benefits; the ITR form for a senior or super senior citizen depends on their income sources.

The Central government has so far this year collected ₹4.62 trillion in direct taxes after adjusting for refunds, marking a 20.99% growth annually, the Central Board of Direct Taxes has said, quoting provisional figures.
