With Indian travellers showing renewed interest in international destinations, Thomas Cook India and its subsidiary SOTC Travel have relaunched their China tour programmes. The move comes as flight connectivity between the two countries improves and visa procedures ease, opening the door for a new wave of leisure, MICE, and bleisure travellers.

The companies said their earlier China departures were selling out weeks in advance, even during the typically off-peak October–November season, reports Business Standard. To meet surging demand, Thomas Cook and SOTC have introduced a refreshed portfolio catering to a diverse audience — from families and millennials to professionals and solo travellers.

New Chinese destinations

Thomas Cook has expanded its China portfolio beyond traditional destinations such as Beijing and Shanghai, adding culturally rich and less-explored regions like Chongqing, Chengdu, and Zhangjiajie.

MICE and bleisure travel

Business travel is also rebounding strongly. With Chinese cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, and Chengdu emerging as major hubs for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE), Thomas Cook and SOTC report rising interest from Indian corporates.

The “bleisure” segment — combining business and leisure travel — is gaining traction as strengthened bilateral ties and trade events fuel momentum.

Indian chefs on board

The companies emphasised comfort and customisation, including porter services at train stations and specially planned menus blending Indian and regional Chinese cuisines. Indian chefs will be on board to cater to vegetarian preferences.
