Kerala’s Industries and Commerce Department is gearing up to recruit 500 professionals, including engineers and MBAs, to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This is part of the RAMPO scheme, a three-year initiative backed by the World Bank and the Government of India, aimed at strengthening the MSME sector.
These experts will be hired on a contract basis through the Kerala Public Enterprises Selection and Recruitment Board (KPESRB). Their primary roleis to help MSMEs tackle challenges and boost their competitiveness.
Essentially, they will serve as business development service providers, offering guidance and solutions tailored to the needs of these small and medium businesses.
The Industries Department is inviting applications for various vacancies in public sector undertakings (PSUs). Some of the organisations with open positions include Travancore Cochin Chemicals, KEL, Malabar International Port, SIDCO, KSDP, TCC, and Meat Products of India.
Just like the RAMPO scheme hires, these appointments will be managed by KPESRB, ensuring a fair and transparent selection process without external interference.
At the national level, it was launched on 30 June 2022 and is overseen by the Union Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. Its key objectives revolve around improving market access and credit availability for MSMEs, strengthening institutional frameworks, and enhancing coordination between central and state governments. It also seeks to address a long-standing issue for many small businesses: delayed payments.
