An Indian homemaker from New Delhi has won the UAE Dh25 million (about ₹65 crore) grand prize in the latest Big Ticket Abu Dhabi draw.
Forty-two-year-old Kanika Arora became the winner after the ticket she purchased on June 30 was selected during the live draw held on July 3.
Kanika and her husband have been buying Big Ticket entries every month for the past three years after discovering the lottery through YouTube and verifying its credibility. The couple said they were overwhelmed when they learnt of the win.
According to the organisers, the family plans to use the prize money to buy a new home and support relatives.
The draw also produced five consolation prize winners, each receiving Dh1 million (Rs 2.6 crore). Of the five, four are Indian pravasis and the other is a Bangladeshi.
Another Indian participant, Twinkle Alphin, originally from Kerala and now based in Dubai, won a BMW X6 with a ticket he purchased on June 28.
The 31-year-old homemaker recently moved to Dubai after living in Qatar. Her husband had been participating in Big Ticket draws for several years, but this was the first ticket purchased in her name. The family plans to opt for the cash equivalent of the luxury SUV and is considering how to use the proceeds.
Big Ticket has also announced the launch of a new Big Spin Draw, scheduled for August 3. Three participants selected from July entries will spin a prize wheel for a chance to win up to Dh1 million each. Of the three, two are Indians.
The Big Spin Draw will make its debut alongside the regular Big Ticket promotions next month.
