The Nifty 50 ended the day 41 points or 0.17 percent, higher at 24,811.50 with 27 stocks in the green; the Sensex closed 148 points, or 0.18 percent, up at 81,053.19.

Kalyan Jewellers promoter T.S. Kalyanaraman acquired 2.42 crore shares from foreign investors Heidel Investment at ₹535 per share, investing ₹1,300 crore.

The positive trend will continue if the Nifty stays above the intraday support of 24750.

The Nifty 50 closed at 71 points, or 0.29 percent, higher at 24,770.20; the Sensex finally settled 102 points, or 0.13 percent, higher at 80,905.30.

All three shipyards rose by more than 4%.

The index formed a white candle on the daily chart and closed above  the previous day's close; this pattern indicates the possibility of continuing the uptrend.

The overall market capitalisation rose to nearly ₹456.7 lakh crore, making investors richer by over ₹2 lakh crore in a single session.

IT companies performed well today, with TCS rising by over 1.5%.
