Dense fog and poor visibility across parts of northern and eastern India disrupted flight operations on Saturday morning, prompting major airlines IndiGo and SpiceJet to issue travel advisories.

Airlines said the weather could lead to delays, diversions or even cancellations over the next few days. Passengers have been advised to check flight status before leaving for the airport and be prepared for last-minute changes.

Delays at multiple airports

IndiGo said low visibility due to dense fog may impact flight operations at Agartala, Bagdogra and Hindon airports. “Low visibility and fog over Agartala, Bagdogra and Hindon airport may impact flight schedules. We are closely monitoring the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly,” IndiGo said.

The airline urged passengers to regularly check flight updates through its website or mobile app and assured on-ground assistance where required.

SpiceJet also issued a poor visibility advisory for Bagdogra airport, warning that arrivals, departures and connected flights could be affected due to foggy conditions.

Jaisalmer Airport cautions travellers

Jaisalmer Airport in Rajasthan issued a separate advisory, stating that dense fog across many parts of northern India could reduce visibility and disrupt flight operations.

Passengers have been advised to follow airline instructions and contact airline helplines for the latest updates before heading to the airport.
